16 June 2025. We are pleased to announce that our policy brief, “Migration with Dignity in East Asia: Policy Comparison of Japan, South Korea and Taiwan on Recruitment Fees for Migrant Workers,” is now available in Japanese, thanks to Caux Round Table Japan (CRT Japan). Originally launched in Taiwan in April 2025, this report is now available in English, Traditional Chinese, and Japanese.

Migration with Dignity in East Asia was launched in April 2025 in collaboration with Taiwan-Asia Exchange Foundation (TAEF). It compares recruitment fee practices across Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea, three East Asian economies with comparable industrial strengths and demographics, and identifies key barriers to policy reform for responsible recruitment.

Partnership with CRT Japan

CRT Japan, registered as a NPO in 2006, is part of the Caux Round Table, a global network of business leaders working to fulfil a fair, free and transparent society through sustainable and socially responsible business. As a founding member of the global CRT, CRT Japan provides unique consultancy services that help companies implement corporate social responsibility by bridging the gap between companies and various stakeholders.

We share similar values and our partnership is ongoing. CRT Japan Executive Director Hiroshi Ishida spoke at the WBI-organised Taiwan Business Forum for Human Rights and Environmental Due Diligence in Taipei in April 2024. Our Executive Director Dr. Bonny Ling also participated in CRT Japan’s annual Business and Human Rights Conference in Tokyo in October 2024, which included intensive dialogues between representatives from Japan’s top 100 companies and international human rights experts.

The responsible recruitment of migrant workers and corporate accountability are urgent topics in both Taiwan and Japan. We are grateful to CRT Japan for promoting this policy brief among Japanese-speaking companies and stakeholders. Sharing knowledge is a key step towards mutual learning and creating best practices across borders.
